Spring Is Here, and We're Growing! (+ Cosmetic Insights)

We're stepping into Spring with excitement and immense gratitude for your continued trust and support. Our dental practice has been buzzing with growth, and we're delighted to have you as part of the Accent Dental family! As some of you know, we recently welcomed patients from Herne Bay Dental after Dr. Chris' move from Auckland, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be your new dental home. Additionally, many new patients have joined us thanks to your referrals and our positive Google reviews. To all our new patients, a warm welcome - thank you for trusting us with your dental care!
We understand you may be still making a decision about seeing us, and we completely understand - we can easily accommodate if you would like us to send your patient notes and xrays to another dentist. However if you would like to see us, we'd love to see you, and we're 200m up the road from Dr. Chris' practice in the thriving hub of Three Lamps Ponsonby. Now, onwards with our Spring newsletter...
We know winter has been long for many, and you'll be very pleased with the daylight hours increasing. But before we dive into all the exciting things happening this Spring, we thought we'd take a moment to reflect on what we loved about the winter season. We've enjoyed watching the Olympics (who else got hooked on rowing, pole vault, or speed climbing?), cozying up with some great reads Dr. Matt's a big fan of his Kindle, while Kimberly loves supporting our local Ponsonby bookstores plus the local library. There's been plenty of hearty meals and time spent with friends, and from what many of you have shared with us, it sounds like you've made the most of the cooler months too - whether through walks, special trips, or a few memorable celebrations (Dr. Matt even helped some of you get your smiles sorted just in time for those big events!)
1. Expanded Hygiene Hours: We Heard You!
Many of you have asked for more flexibility, and we are happy to deliver! We've expanded our hygiene hours on Fridays and Saturdays, thanks to the addition of our fantastic new Oral Health Therapists (Hygienists), Kira and Maria. If you've already met them, you know just how wonderful they both are, and some of our latest Google reviews speak to this too.
Maria hails from Argentina, and is committed to ensuring your dental experience is positive, comfortable, and leaves you beaming with confidence.
Kira loves providing the highest standard of care and enjoys getting to know patients from all walks of life, and you will often find her happily chatting away throughout each appointment! On days off she loves her downtime at home, usually snuggled up with a book or a movie, and she also loves to be cooked for.
Our hygiene team continues to be led by the amazing Jade Hobbs (or Karen Jade Hobbs, as some of you know her), who recently completed advanced Adult Scope training in Melbourne. Jade is now equipped to handle a variety of dental needs, so you can visit her for check-ups, smaller fillings, chipped teeth, and even advanced perio care!
2. Dr. Matt's Focus: Restorative and Cosmetic Expertise
Dr. Matt continues to focus on ceramic, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, along with performing many dental implants. Additionally, Dr. Matt is now offering Zoom consultations to patients around the country, as we're now seeing interest for his services nationwide - so if you have any friends or family outside of Auckland who are looking for a dentist, please let them know. When you next see Dr. Matt, don't forget to ask him how he's doing with his new bonsai plants (don't mention snails) or his latest Octordle!
With Jade now assisting in general dentistry, including toothaches and chipped teeth, we're thrilled to offer you more affordable options without compromising on quality. Jade's care is a little easier on the wallet, giving you even more reasons to smile. Meanwhile, Jade's always up for a chat about her local pottery class - or you could ask her about her recent trip to the US, where she's adventuring right now!
3. New Faces at the Front Desk
We're also excited to introduce our new Front Desk Reception Lead, Kaley Rawson, who has joined us from Papamoa. Kaley comes highly recommended, and we're thrilled to have her on board! We want to extend a big thank you to all our temps who have stepped in at the front desk over the last year while we searched for the right fit to replace Lucy. Wed also like to give a huge shout-out to Gemma, Dr. Matt's Dental Assistant, who has really stepped up this past year, helping bring in several positive system changes, plus mentorship to new employees.
And, together our team is growing! With our new Oral Health Therapist Hygienists, plus Kimberly supporting on the growth, recruiting and systems side, we're now a team of eight. We have a three interview recruitment process, as we like to take our time ensuring we hire great people, and this winter have had some fantastic staff outings at local Ponsonby eateries to help bring our team together - this in combination with regular staff meetings, plus daily morning huddles, helps us amplify the strength and good fortune that comes with having such wonderful employees.
4. We Now Accept Southern Cross Insurance!
We are excited to let you know that we now accept Southern Cross insurance for a range of treatments, hoping to make managing your dental care more convenient. Please reach out if this is beneficial for you. We also offer various payment plans for specific treatments, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality dental care.

As always, we're grateful for your continued support whether through Google reviews, referrals, or simply sharing your smile with us. Your thoughts and opinions are incredibly important to us, and we always welcome your feedback. If there's anything you'd like to share about your experiences or if there's anything else we can do to improve our service, please don't hesitate to let us know. We also truly appreciate those of you who give us more than 48 hours notice for any appointment changes it helps us tremendously. We're committed to making your visits as comfortable and effective as possible, and your input helps us achieve that.
Thank you also for bringing in your children or grandchildren; remember, if they're between the ages of Year 9 to 18 years old, they receive an annual government-funded treatment.
