Hi I'm Dr. Priya Bhundoo, and I'm passionate about preventative dental care and the practice of gentle dentistry, with particular interest in the management of gum disease (also known as periodontal disease) and root canal work. I'm an Otago graduate and I've been at Accent Dental for the last few years; Accent's unwavering committment to its patients is what drew me here in the first place.
Dentistry is my passion, but I mostly enjoy getting to know the person behind the mouth! My patients know their concerns are always prioritized. The key to good teeth and healthy gums is prevention, and this is so much easier to achieve because my patients and I work together to agree optimum dental treatment and the best way forward in the management of their root canal or gum disease treatment.
Gum disease
As you’ll be aware, it’s truly important to get on top of your gum problems as soon as possible, not only to help you in the management of grueling symptoms like swollen gums, your gums bleeding, or simply ongoing gum pain, but also because ultimately gum infection can result in tooth loss and has overall health implications for your whole body.
If you want to get on top of your gum infection, if you have gum pain, bad breath, bleeding or receding gums, I can definitely help you out. Gingivitis, a term for the inflammation of the gums, is an entirely manageable condition, but if left untreated it can progress to periodontitis (meaning inflammation around the tooth) – this is more serious and can result in tooth loss. On your first appointment I will spend time getting to know you and understanding your wishes. I will then help you through the decision process of your gum disease; discussing all options thoroughly with you, and helping you to weigh the pros and cons of each choice on offer.
On top of helping you manage gingivitis and periodontal disease, I also offer a full range of dental treatment options, both in terms of general and cosmetic dentistry. Outside of work I love the outdoors, and originating from a tropical island, I especially enjoy the water, which means I love Auckland and it’s many beaches! I’m an Otago graduate, and very much look forward to seeing you soon.
Here at Accent we have your best interests at heart. Dr. Priya
