Hi,

I’m Jade Karen Hobbs, the Senior Oral Health Therapist (Hygienist) here at Accent Dentists. Most people call me Jade.

I have worked in the dental industry since 2003, starting as a Dental Assistant and then studying at AUT to complete my Bachelor of Health Science in 2008 for Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. I'm further qualified with Advanced Clinical Practice Adult Scope to treat adults for fillings, exams, checkups, toothaches, chipped teeth and general dental care. Ongoing dental learning is very important to me. 

Previously (for the last 18 years), I worked on the North Shore where I built on my skills to provide the best quality of care for my patients. I've helped many adults and children who have been petrified of coming to the dentist to now look forward to their visits. Children can be especially anxious as it’s the fear of the unknown. I love treating children, and always make sure to explain clearly what is going to happen to help build their confidence, and find this a very successful approach.

Helping people with halitosis (bad breath) is also something I enjoy. This can be a very embarrassing issue for people and can really affect their confidence. With education and guidance, I have made people become more confident in knowing how to avoid this common problem.

Outside of work, I live in West Auckland with my three cats and two chickens. I am a foodie who also loves gardening, arts and crafts, animals, travel and hanging out with friends and family on the weekends.

Kira Wan (BHSc OH)

Hi,

I’m Kira, Oral Health Therapist at Accent Dentists. I am qualified to practice both dental hygiene and dental therapy, with a Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health. Being deeply passionate about patient care, I have also undertaken postgraduate studies in Health Leadership and Management, with an interest in streamlining and innovating health service delivery.

I am very proud to be part of the team at Accent Dentists. We hold ourselves to providing the highest standard of care while prioritising a gentle and comfortable patient experience. I throughly enjoy getting to know patients from all walks of life, and you will often find me happily chatting away throughout each appointment!

On my days off I like to enjoy my downtime at home, usually snuggled up with a book or a movie. I am also a big foodie, especially for baked goods and fusion cuisine.

Bianca Yearbury (BHSc OH)

Hello! My name is Bianca, I am an Oral Health Therapist (Hygienist) here at Accent. I graduated from AUT with a Bachelor of Health Science Majoring in Oral Health in 2012. Since then, I have worked in both public and private dental settings. I absolutely love treating people of all walks of life and enjoy getting to know all my patients.

My main goal is to make dentistry fun and easy for everyone, I have a special interest in providing restorative care to children and building confidence in patients who find going to the dentist nerve wrecking. I am very preventive focused and aim to help all my patients to actively prevent dental problems so they can achieve their best oral health! I am also a big believer in the impact that oral health can have on an individual’s overall health and wellbeing.

I’m a giant tooth nerd and you can always find me looking to attend a webinar or course to continue to grow my dental knowledge.

Outside of dentistry I enjoy spending time with friends, my husband and our two cats. I love socialising over a good meal and enjoy finding great food spots. In the winter you can catch me going for the odd ski.

Please ask us about our AIRFLOW machine, which we offer to all patients for a compimentary try on their first visit - it removes stains and discolouration in a painless and stress-free manner. It's like a day spa for your mouth as it combines air, fine powder and warm water to gently exfoliate your teeth without physically touching them. Note the BIG differences, especially evident in this photo below on patient's bottom teeth (note: no cosmetic work done, these results show a hygiene appointment using airflow).
