Our Smile Secret is Your Hygienist!

Great dental hygiene is the answer! Accent is privileged to have a fabulous full-time Oral Hygienist specialist on our Auckland dental team to help you keep smiling.

Their focus is to ensure your teeth have the best possible structure supporting them. You may not know that periodontal disease is the main form of tooth loss in adults - with over 80% of adults having some form of it!

This means if you want to keep the teeth you've got, regular dental hygiene visits is the most important thing you can do. In fact, if that's the only thing you do for your teeth, do that! Crucially regular visits also helps to manage the bad breath or bleeding gums that some of our patients have.

A smile that sparkles - feel confident

So while your visits will ensure your teeth look great (by removing staining caused by coffee/tea/wine & cigarettes and finishing off with a professional polish of your teeth), they will also review your gum attachment levels (pocket depths), clean your teeth of calculus and plaque, and check your jawbone levels, helping ensure you keep the teeth you've got! Plus, if this interests you, you can add one of our Teeth Whitening options to your treatment plans, something many of our Auckland dental hygiene clients are keen on.

Since our Hygiene appointments are usually booked solid for 3-4 months ahead, we recommend patients rebook their next appointment when visiting us to get their preferred time-slot. Please note that as these appointments are in hot demand, missed appointments, or appointments cancelled within 24 hours of appointment time will incur a cancellation fee. if you are a new patient, we leave a small number of appointments available for select new hygiene appointments.

Here's what one of Karen's patients said recently:

"I had my 1st treatment with Karen Hobbs today, and i have to say she is the best Hygienist I’ve ever been to. Total Professional, who made me feel at ease instantly, also it was pain free which is a total 1st for me and Hygienist’s!!” - Kim H

Reduce risk of unexpected costs

In terms of regular maintenance, most of our patients have dental hygiene visits twice a year (more or less depending on individual cases). The cost of these visits is $240, and along with keeping your teeth in great shape, the real value is protecting the teeth you have (including new crowns or veneers), thus minimising unexpected costs by actively maintaining the health of your teeth and gums. Should you choose, there is an additional $40 cost for airflow treatment, and you can see below the amazing results you can get using this incredible equipment, however we waiver this charge (airflow is complementary) for first time patients.

A Little Story About Bacteria...

Your mouth harbors more bacteria than anywhere else on your body, and some of these bacteria are beneficial, while many contribute to things like gingivitis, periodontal disease and even decay.

Diode lasers can help combat this by eliminating the bacteria within your gums. This promotes more comfortable appointments, more comfortable scaling and root planing appointments, faster healing times a, as well as producing no aerosols. Diode laser usage as a hygiene procedure is also an extremely safe procedure that virtually anyone of any age can have with ease.

PLUS with lasers you get healthier gum tissue, faster and long lasting results, less down time after procedure, faster healing and most importantly a healthier smile.

Karen is offering several different procedures that range from Laser Assisted Periodontal therapy, Laser Bacterial Reduction and treatment for Aphthous ulcers or herpetic lesions (cold sores), the charges for these would be:

  • $50 for an aphthous /herpetic lesion

  • $295 for Laser bacterial reduction and a full scale and polish

  • $415 per quadrant for Laser Assisted Periodontal therapy under local anaesthetic and quadrant scale and polish
